Job Title: Buyer - Engineering
Location: Leicester
Salary: Circa £35k
Job Type: Full Time / Permanent / Onsite
The Role
As an Engineering Buyer, you will play a critical role in the procurement process, focusing specifically on sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and equipment necessary for engineering projects.
This role requires a combination of technical expertise, negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of engineering specifications. You will collaborate closely with the engineering team, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Identify and source materials, components, and equipment required for engineering projects.
* Evaluate potential suppliers, considering factors such as quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
* Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a stable and reliable supply chain
* Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a stable and reliable supply chain
* Technical understanding
* Work closely with designers and engineering team to understand project requirements and technical speciation’s.
* Cost negotiation - Negotiate pricing and contract terms with suppliers to ensure cost effectiveness and competitive advantage.
The Candidate
* Degree or equivalent in engineering, Supply chain management, or a related field
* Proven experience in procurement, specifically engineering or technical setting.
* Strong negotiation skills and ability to analyse technical specifications
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of industry standards, regulations and best practises in procurement.
