Commercial Manager
We are seeking a skilled Commercial Manager to lead and direct the commercial activities associated with our operations in Telecoms and Energy, along with close collaboration with the back office PMO team. Provide support and input to procurement and bidding processes.
The ideal Commercial manager will play a pivotal role in managing all aspects of commercial operations within our projects. You will be responsible for negotiating and agreeing on fees, variations, and final accounts with clients, suppliers, and onboarding subcontractors.
This role involves raising recoverable purchase orders, identifying unaccounted-for expenses, and collaborating closely with our accounts department to manage project-related revenue and costs.
The Commercial Manager would be responsible for:
*Ensuring contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and subcontractors are administered (i.e. payment of contractors).
*Ensure that contract documents are properly executed prior to project commencement.
*Oversee the creation/ assessment of EWN’s and compensation events
*Providing regular cash flow forecast of expenditure.
*Offering support and input to the procurement and bidding processes.
*Managing the change management process consult with other functions to assess changes and risks to the overall project outturn.
*Producing a monthly consolidated cost and expenditure report for the section of the project.
*Overseeing/ producing the monthly valuation process.
*Reviewing potential contractor and supplier claims the adjudication of claims and make recommendations for settlement.
*Overseeing/ producing the finalisation of contractor’s accounts and close out of contracts for the project.
*Overseeing the raising of consultant, supplier or contractor instructions as necessary for signature by approved parties.
*Overseeing the financial contingency built into packages and ensure that contingency allowances reflect the current programme position.
*Reviewing cost implications of all instructions issued by the project manager
*Supporting the change control process and assist in identifying the cost implications of any proposed changes.
*Support development of direct reports (where appropriate)
*Where possible, identify future opportunities with clients to extend current contracts and provide proposals to the SMT for consideration
*Advise and manage commercial risks within the project or projects.
*Adopt appropriate measures for management of risk
*Supporting creation and monitoring of a margin improvement plan for area of responsibility
We’d welcome candidates with the following skills and experience:
*5 years’ experience (Minimum) in a Commercial Management position (Utility contracting environment - preferable).
*Experience as a commercial manager/quantity surveyor within a utility contractor /construction environment.
*Digitally proficient, can build lasting client relationships through strong communication, and lead strong, motivated teams.
*Experience in the management and application of NEC3 & 4 form of contract
*Able to identify potential future risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies and monitor performance
*Technical Competencies (Essential and Desirable)
*Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite- Word, PowerPoint, Excel
*Degree qualified - (Desirable)
*RICS or similar qualification - (Required or working towards)
