Our Team
This is an exciting time to join Economic Crime Risk, a second line of defence (2LOD) function. Our Governance & Insights team is looking for an Economic Crime Risk Manager to support us in our contribution to the Virgin Money purpose: to protect customers and stop bad people doing bad things through our firm.
The Governance and Insights teams supports several key areas of 2LOD Economic Crime Risk, including the Business Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA), change management, regulatory reporting, monthly reporting and governance, insightful analysis and the many BAU aspects of running a team.
In this new role, you’ll be responsible for leading the integration of the VM risk optimisation in the 2LOD helping the bank to effectively manage financial crime risk and protect its customers. We’re looking for a driven Risk & Control Manager to provide oversight and effective management of the risks and controls across Economic Crime Risk, by providing awareness and active management of risks and controls (including controls design), cultivating, and supporting a culture of risk and control awareness. This includes risk and control profile reporting, issues/actions management and reporting through various governance. You will work closely with the BWRA lead to ensure alignment between BWRA, RCSA and CES reporting with the new risk and control library and IRM system.
What you’ll be doing
*Ensuring effective risk profile and reporting including leading on oversight and reporting of the EC risk taxonomy.
*Escalating any control failures, risks, issues through formal governance.
*Coordinate and draft inputs for standing EC and business risk committees and forums with the audience including the Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Senior Managers with responsibilities in fraud and financial crime.
*Contributing to Risk Assessments as part of the Economic Crime risk assessment process.
*Providing practitioner support on key risk systems.
*Helping to organise, deliver and document workshops focused on mapping risks and controls and for sessions that support the adherence to risk frameworks, including output for portfolio.
*Giving proactive insight and analysis on function Risk Profile reviews on mitigation plans across the function’s Risk Profile.
*Working with key stakeholders in both 1lOD and 2LOD in ensuring policies, procedures, and practises fully compliant with all legal and relevant regulatory requirements and codes of practice / conduct are adhered to.
*Building relationships with the 1LOD fraud and financial crime hubs, creating a culture of continuous improvement, control, flexibility and effectiveness.
*Managing and report progress of actions flowing from governance forums related to your area/roles/responsibilities.
We need you to have
*Proven practical experience of working within a risk and control environment and a strong understanding of Risk Management Frameworks.
*The ability to build effective relationships and the confidence to adapt these skills to communicate with a variety of peers and senior stakeholders across the Group.
*Previous experience of facilitating workshops with excellent communication skills and the ability to be concise and keep the complex simple.
*Expert at analysing and understanding risks to be able to challenge and advise.
*Demonstrable experience in coaching and successfully embedding process change.

*University Degree or equivalent Financial Services industry experience.
