SEMH Support Assistant

This full-time position involves providing 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with Autism and Cerebral Palsy, who also experiences complex mental health challenges. Your role will be instrumental in helping the student access the curriculum and develop life skills in a nurturing and structured environment.

*Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

*Pay: £83.50 - £90 per day
Key Responsibilities - Burghfield Common, Reading
*Provide tailored 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil.
*Implement strategies to support the pupil’s mental health, emotional well-being, and social skills.
*Adapt lessons and activities to suit the student’s individual needs.
*Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to develop and follow the pupil’s Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
*Foster a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For:
*Experience: Prior experience working with SEN/SEMH children is highly desirable. This may include professional or personal experience.
*Education: A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
*Skills: Strong communication, resilience, and the ability to adapt to a variety of situations.
*Attitude: A positive, empathetic, and proactive approach to helping children overcome barriers to learning.
