Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our clients’ dynamic team in Thetford. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth running of all plant equipment, with a primary focus on both planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance. You will play a pivotal role in reducing downtime and increasing efficiency across our production lines, which incorporate cutting-edge automation, robotics, and advanced machinery.
As part of the engineering team, you will be involved in supporting new equipment installations and continually improving the plant’s operational performance. If you are a driven engineer with a passion for mechanical and electrical systems, and a desire to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:
*Planned Maintenance: Perform thorough planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of production equipment to ensure reliability, extend machinery life, and minimize unexpected breakdowns.
*Reactive Maintenance: Quickly and efficiently respond to any unscheduled breakdowns or faults, diagnosing issues, and implementing timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
*Maximo Management: Raise corrective and reactive maintenance work orders, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date for audit and review purposes.
*Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to identifying process bottlenecks and mechanical inefficiencies across the site. Work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to propose and implement improvements that will enhance performance, reduce costs, and improve safety.
*Stock Management: Monitor and update the stores system to maintain optimum stock levels of critical parts and materials, ensuring production downtime is minimized due to inventory shortages.
*Project Support: Assist with the installation of new machinery and equipment. Collaborate with project teams to ensure seamless integration with existing systems, while adhering to strict safety and operational guidelines.
*Team Collaboration: Work alongside the Shift Engineering Team Leader and broader production team to meet daily targets, ensuring that any engineering issues are promptly communicated and resolved to minimize the impact on production.
*Escalation of Issues: Promptly escalate any major equipment issues or safety concerns to the Shift Engineering Team Leader or relevant management, following the correct procedures to ensure swift and effective resolution.
*Compliance & Safety: Uphold all health, safety, and environmental standards in line with company policies. Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standard and that any risks are immediately addressed.
Experience: *A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience within a similar role
*Demonstrated experience in mechanical and electrical fault finding and repair, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
*Hands-on experience with automation, robotics, and other advanced technologies commonly used in manufacturing.
*Technical Skills: *Proficiency in mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine alignment.
*Electrical experience, including wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting control systems.
*Competency in working with PLCs, variable speed drives, and other control systems.
*Familiarity with tools and diagnostic equipment for electrical and mechanical repairs.

Key Competencies & Personal Attributes:
*Problem-Solving: You have a methodical approach to troubleshooting and are able to work under pressure to quickly identify and fix faults, ensuring production continues smoothly.
*Team Player: Strong ability to collaborate with colleagues across departments, providing engineering support where necessary and ensuring smooth handovers between shifts.
*Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure accurate reporting and handovers, as well as the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical team members.
*Self-Motivated: Able to take initiative, work autonomously, and drive tasks to completion with minimal supervision, especially during night shifts.
*Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
*Attention to Detail: Precision in both planned maintenance tasks and when resolving breakdowns, ensuring that no small detail is overlooked that could lead to bigger issues later on.
If you’re a skilled Maintenance Engineer ready to take the next step in your career and enjoy tackling technical challenges, we’d love to hear from you!
