Job Description:
Why Derwentside College?
Derwentside College is one of the top performing colleges in the Country for its learner and employer satisfaction. We are an ambitious organisation and as a large provider of apprenticeships we are leading the way in delivering a range of outstanding services to learners and employers.
The College’s team of Learning Support Assistants provide learning support and guidance to enable learners to achieve the maximum advantage from the learning opportunities available to them. In recent years, the College has grown beyond expectations in its Apprenticeship, full-time and part-time offer, in turn increasing the opportunities available to our learners. At the same time, the hard work and commitment of the team have ensured continued outstanding success. As a result of this, we are now seeking to appoint two talented individuals to support in a range of learning situations, including in the workplace, our learners with additional learning support needs studying various vocational or academic qualifications.
What you will do?
You will provide a high quality, pro-active learning support service that contributes to an outstanding learner experience for all learners who have additional learning support needs - enabling them to become as independent as possible and to achieve their learning aims.
Applicants should be educated to at least GCSE grade C (4-9) or hold maths and English Level 2 qualifications. A Teaching Assistant’s Qualification or equivalent at Level 2 or above is essential.
What’s in it for you?
* Christmas closure days
* Automatic entry to the LGPS
* Flexible working
* Annual staff wellbeing days
* Continuous professional development
* Free on-site parking
* Free use of the on-site gym
These are permanent, fractional posts (working 16 hours per week, term time only). A range of hours and working patterns, to suit the needs of our learners, are available and will be discussed with anyone invited to attend for interview.
The College is positively committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend its education and training provision. All staff are expected to share this commitment. The person appointed will be required to obtain a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure.
