We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director to join our team within Vistry Southern, at our Basingstoke office. As our Technical Director, you will be required to manage the Technical team and head up the Technical Department to ensure that they fulfil contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while minimising costs.
The Technical Director will have full responsibility and control of the Technical department. They will control the complete design process involving the management of consultants, management of design input from other external parties, liaison with the relevant statutory and local authorities, including liaison with Clients and Client’s representatives and take the team through these processes. They will lead the team on material selection / approval, commenting on construction detailing, checking consultant and sub-contractors designs for buildability and compliance with statutory criteria / guidelines etc., thus ensuring that projects meet the Employer’s Requirements.

*Relevant CSCS card

*More about the Technical Director role... *Control the design process, from detailed design through to project completion.
*Review recommendations for appointment of consultants.
*Review detailed design prepared by consultants in accordance with Employers Requirement and Contractors Proposals.
*Ensure timely registration by the Technical team with warranty providers and Building Regulation Applications
*Co-ordinate PD and PC roles under Building Safety Act making applications and changes accordingly.
*Ensure the preparation, approval and distribution of the Health and Safety File/Operating and Maintenance Manuals is coordinated by the Technical team.
*Ensure the Technical team provide timely completion and issue of technical assessments, CfSH/BREEAM information, warranties, certificates, planning conditions and the like.
*Review the team’s design development to allow construction of works to follow safety working practices and be in accordance with current legislation, Group Policy, and Procedures.
*Ensure the technical budgets are monitored in line with Group Policy to ensure milestones for the business unit.
*Identify contractual, financial, technical, and operational risks within tenders and identify opportunities to minimise risk and maximise gross profit.
*Oversee the management of the process of designing solutions.
*Ensure the Technical team conduct ’value engineering’.
*Review and approve tenders generated by the Technical department.
*Ensure teamwork and support is encouraged.
