Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK
Contract: Full-time, Permanent – Day shift

This company specialises in a range of forging processes, including open-die radial, press, hammer, ring rolling, closed-die extrusion, drop stamp, and blade forging. With comprehensive facilities, they deliver a fully integrated metals service—from ingot and billet preparation to final machining and quality testing.
About the Role:
The Metallurgist will play a vital role in managing material conversion and designing production routes to ensure the delivery of precision-engineered alloy products. This position involves close collaboration with quality and technical teams to optimise processes, ensure compliance with rigorous standards, and support cost-efficiency initiatives. As a key contact for customers, the Metallurgist will also assist with audits and investigate any quality issues, upholding the company’s reputation for exceptional product quality and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
*Oversee and guide hot material conversion processes.
*Design, implement, and monitor production and manufacturing routes.
*Serve as a liaison for customer audits and technical inquiries.
*Conduct non-conformance investigations and implement corrective actions.
*Drive product and process improvements to maximize performance and reduce costs.
About you: (Essential)
*Strong understanding of metallurgy and material processing.
*Experience with quality control and inspection protocols.
*MUST have forging experience and specific experience doing contract reviews for forgings.
*Attention to detail, organisational skills, and sound decision-making abilities.
*A collaborative and proactive team player.

*Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science
