*Medical and Welfare Lead

A Primary Academy School in Brent, North West London are looking for a Medical and Welfare Lead to join their school in January to oversee all aspects of medical care and first aid provision within their school.
The Role
The Medical and Welfare Lead is a key role within the school, ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing students and staff while maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
*Safeguarding and Student Wellbeing: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, including those with complex medical needs.
*First Aid Leadership: Acting as the school’s main First Aider, coordinate other First Aiders, and manage first aid training to ensure compliance.
*Medical Support: Lead on administering and managing medication, maintaining accurate medical records, and co-ordination of visits by the school nurse.
*Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments for students with medical care needs, including off-site activities and residential trips.
*Student Support: Assist students with health concerns, including personal hygiene and physical support, promoting attendance and engagement in lessons.
*Parent and Professional Liaison: Collaborate with parents and external professionals to update care plans, medication plans, and coordinate medical appointments.
*Training and Guidance: Train staff on procedures such as EpiPen use, asthma protocols, and Individual Health Care Plans.
*Accident Reporting: Maintain accurate records of accidents and near-misses, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions and reporting to leadership.
*Medical Room Management: Ensure the medical room is efficiently managed, stocked, and complies with health and safety standards.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
*Experience in education, nursing or paediatric healthcare.
*Administration of medication competency.
*Current First Aid at Work qualification (Paediatric First Aid desirable, training can be provided).
*Excellent organisation, decision-making, and communication skills.
*Strong ICT skills, including experience with SIMS, MS Office, and databases.
