Job Description:
Smarter, Faster, and as always - First. That’s our philosophy. Bloomberg Media empowers global business leaders with breaking news, expert opinion and proprietary data distributed on every platform, across every time zone. Like our products and solutions- our teams are agile, dynamic, and innovative. We work hard, and we work fast - while keeping up the quality and accuracy for which we’re known. It’s what keeps us inventing and reinventing, all the time. Our culture is wide open, just like our spaces. We challenge each other. And through our countless volunteer projects, we help bring out the best in our communities as around us, too. You can do amazing work here. Work you couldn’t do anywhere else. It’s up to you to make it happen.
Bloomberg delivers critical information in a world where information matters. We give influential decision makers in business, finance and government a competitive edge by connecting them to a dynamic network of news, people and ideas. To do that, we need a constant flow of ideas, energy and innovation-which is where you come in.
Bloomberg Digital is expanding its weekend offerings and looking for an experienced digital audience editor and producer to work across multiple platforms. It’s a fast-paced, collaborative role that is directly plugged into the newsroom. You will work closely with reporters and editors to package and promote content across social platforms, mobile alerts, newsletters, and more - to meet business users where they are on the weekend. On the digital production side, you’ll be tasked with ensuring that reporting, imagery, and design are optimized for clarity and impact.
The ideal candidate will bring an excitement for news and rigorous attention to detail. On-platform, you should have a strong grasp of SEO, grounded in the ability to write compelling headlines that cut to the core of a story. Off-site, you know the subtleties of platforms like Facebook, X, Apple News, and Flipboard, alert to opportunities where you can promote stories that play to an individual platform’s strengths. This role is responsible for Wednesday through Sunday coverage.
We’ll trust you to:
*Promote weekend content across distribution platforms
*Handle analytics and feedback to the team on performance of our distribution channels
*Jump in as a backup for breaking news support as needed on homepages, mobile alerts and social platforms
*Use multiple web publishing tools to build a visually striking digital package for the weekend from editors and reporters across the globe
*Work closely with editors, designers, and everyone else who touches the weekend product
*Handle flagship newsletter publishing and weekend package curation globally, including homepages and article recirc
*Deliver your best work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom, balancing multiple projects at a time
*Hand off across regions with your counterparts in Hong Kong and the US
You’ll need to have:
*A minimum of 2-4 years newsroom experience
*An understanding of business and financial news as well as a wide-ranging interest in topics from culture and finance to politics and society
*Proven history of working independently
*A strong understanding of how digital audiences are evolving, analytics and the digital subscription ecosystem
*Visual design skills grounded in digital publishing experience with layout, typography, and user experience
*Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
*Experience and expertise in web publishing technologies, from fluency with HTML and CSS to troubleshooting problems in modern content management systems
*A thorough understanding of web best practices, including SEO, cross browser testing, and accessibility standards
