Job Description:
My client Haydon Wick Parish Council are recruiting a detail-oriented and proactive, part time Accounts Assistant to join their team. You will be responsible for overseeing the Council’s financial processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with statutory regulations.
Working 21 hours per week, flexibility on times of hours worked.
Key Responsibilities will include:
*Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including processing sales and purchase invoices, reconciling cash receipts, and managing banking transactions.
*Prepare and assist with budgets, financial reports, and grant applications.
*Ensure compliance with the Council’s Financial Regulations and relevant legislation.
*Manage insurance requirements, including handling claims.
*Monitor s106 and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) income and expenditure.
*Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
*Develop and maintain financial management software systems.
The right candidate will have the following skills and experience:
*AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Adobe pro and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Omega).
*Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work to deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
*Experience with local government finance and regulations preferred
*Knowledge of VAT and Making Tax Digital.
*Familiarity with GDPR and data protection practices.

*Starting salary - £32,474 pro rata
*21 hours per week, flexible on hours worked as long as the same each week.
*Pension - immediate enrolment into the Wiltshire Pension Fund 19.7% employer contribution
