Shift Team Leader

Salary - Circa £62,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours - Shift Rota Monday to Sunday, shift pattern of 12-hour shifts Averages yearly at 40 hours per week.
Location Postcode - EH22 1SX

As a Shift Team Leader, you will ensure that the Company pursues best practices regarding its policies and procedures, development of industrial relations and legislative compliance within an open and empowered culture. You will be responsible for the day-to-day safety and environmental performance of the plant.

This vacancy is full-time, 40 hours per week working on a shift rota Monday to Sunday. This will be on a shift pattern of 12-hour shifts, as advised by the Operations Manager to align with the operations of the EfW. The shift pattern will have rostered holidays included in the shift pattern. You will be entitled to a paid, disturbed break of 1 hour per shift.

What will you be doing?

- Responsible for maximising the availability of the plant and taking proactive measures to improve plant reliability.
- Implement the company’s health, safety and environmental management policies.
- Participate in the HSE forum and initiate company/site HSE initiatives and activities, including procedure reviews on a periodic basis.
- Responsible for monitoring plant performance, identifying and taking proactive measures to improve performance shortfalls.
- Augment plant efficiencies and engineering solutions.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of turbines and generators.
- Behaviour of rotating machinery and monitoring techniques.
- Safe Systems of Work and the role of the enforcement agency (H.S.E).
- Environmental abatement requirements of modern Waste to Energy plant and the role of the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

What are we looking for?

- Experience of a professional and disciplined approach to management, working alongside operational teams, ensuring performance expectations, service standards and people development are met.
- A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement. NEBOSH or IOSH qualified is preferable, and a good, practical working knowledge of thermal plant operations and control would be viewed positively.
- ONC or NVQ, C&G Level 3 or higher in Engineering, with a high level of practical Operational/Maintenance experience/knowledge.
- A minimum of HND in an Engineering discipline, with a high level of practical Operational/Maintenance experience/knowledge (Qualifications below this may be acceptable, if accompanied by suitable experience).
