Job Description:
Pure are delighted to be working in partnership with the University of Cambridge Finance Division as they embark on an exciting Enhanced Financial Transparency (EFT) Project which is highly significant and will have a University-wide impact. The project forms part of an overall Finance Transformation Programme (FTP).
We are currently recruiting an Interim Payroll Manager which will enable the current Payroll Manager to be dedicated to the project, this role is part of the payroll department within the finance division and will be an 18 month contract.
The role of the Payroll Manager is to ensure all salaries and taxable payments are processed to a strict timetable and will oversee the correct authorisation of payments to limit the potential of fraudulent requests. The post holder is responsible for the integrity and processes of the payroll system including functionality and internal and external policy changes.
This is a hands on position and we are looking for somebody that is comfortable producing manual calculations and supporting the team with the day to day processing where required. This role is responsible for 6 members of staff who together pay approximately 24,000 employees which are paid over 7 payrolls and 3 pay frequencies within the University, so experience of dealing with volume payrolls in a management capacity is essential for this role.
In-depth knowledge of current and past payroll legislation and procedures including year end processes is essential.
The University offers an excellent benefits package including: - 41 days annual leave, inclusive of Bank Holidays - Defined benefits pension schemes - Flexible working options - Family-friendly initiatives - Career development opportunities - Rental deposit scheme
The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of their approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society. The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
The closing date for applications will be 19th of January, however we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
