Salary: £46,731 - 49,764 per annum
Location: Northamptonshire

About the Governance & Litigation Lawyer role:
Sellick Partnership is proud to be working with an exceptional legal services team in the heart of Northamptonshire. We are looking for a Governance & Litigation Lawyer to join the growing Legal team at North Northamptonshire Council to provide advice and representation to the Council in areas of governance and litigation.

As a Governance & Litigation Lawyer, you will be supported at a senior level and by colleagues in a growing and developing team of professionals. Key responsibilities of the Governance & Litigation Lawyer role:
The role will involve delivering comprehensive professional legal advice to the unitary council and client department. You will manage a portfolio of your own cases which will consist of, but not limited to:
*Effectively provide legal advice commensurate to experience to Members, Officers and other stakeholders generally and at committee meetings.
*Effective management of tight deadlines.
*Ability to handle a broad caseload including advocacy in criminal and civil litigation matters.
Ideal requirements for the Governance & Litigation Lawyer role include:
We are looking for candidates with previous public sector governance, litigation case handling and advocacy experience and exceptional relationship building, networking, and influencing skills.
You will need to be a qualified Solicitor, barrister or FCILEx to apply but we are open minded to speaking with candidates of all litigation law backgrounds from the public sector to private practice.
Experience in at least two areas of the following work:
*Civil litigation
*Prosecutions
*Judicial Review
*Debt recovery including Adult Social Care
*Licensing
