Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? Reed Education is seeking a dedicated HLTA Teaching Assistant to serve as an Autism Champion within our ASD Resource Base. This role involves collaborating closely with the Lead Teacher and other educational professionals to plan, organize, and deliver effective interventions tailored to the needs of children with ASD or those accessing the resource base.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities: *Support pupils individually and in groups, both within the ASD Resource Base and mainstream classrooms.
*Supervise pupils not following a standard timetable and participate in comprehensive assessments to identify those needing specific help.
*Assist in developing and implementing Individual Learning Support plans for pupils with ASD and communication & interaction difficulties.
*Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and promoting self-esteem.
*Provide feedback on pupils’ progress, achievement, behaviour, and attendance.
*Use various assessment tools to identify needs and design appropriate interventions to ensure progress.
*Track the effectiveness of interventions and contribute to planning meetings.
*Prepare and develop resources for learning activities and implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes.
*Liaise with various professionals like Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists to support pupil development.
Required Skills & Qualifications: *Comprehensive knowledge of working within a primary school environment or with primary school-aged children.
*Experience in supporting and engaging children and young people to ensure access to the curriculum.
*Proven ability to establish nurturing relationships with children and young people.
*Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
*Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
*Ability to organize own workload, demonstrate initiative, and respond proactively to challenges.
*Experience in working as part of a team and managing workloads effectively.
