Job Title: Corporate Actions

As a key member of the Barings Operations group you will be responsible for the data quality oversight of all global operational services relating to Corporate Actions processes.
Alongside the Corporate Actions and Income team leads, you will work closely with both internal partners (including, but not restricted to, Portfolio Management, Compliance, Trade Management, Public & Private Operations) and relevant external parties (including Global Custodians, counterparties)  
You will work alongside teams of dedicated professionals responsible for performing all aspects of Corporate Action processing. You will follow the processes and controls set out by team management.
Once fully trained, you will demonstrate credibility with a proven competency and knowledge of the related operational activities, as well as drive efficiency and accuracy to reduce risk in our processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
*Accurate and timely transaction processing of Corporate Actions, ensuring tasks are prioritized accordingly to meet processing deadlines.
*Ensure COAC’s events are correctly scrubbed and approved.
*Oversight of corporate action postings in Aladdin and reconciliation of entitlements received by Global Custodian(s) to applicable systems.
*Ensuring timely and accurate validation of automated feed updates in Aladdin to support global investment management processes.
*Upon receipt of corporate action notifications from Global Custodians ensure that positions are reconciled before processing.
*Sending corporate action notifications to investment managers, monitoring of election responses, deadlines, and relevant communication with client and custodian.
*Work closely with front office and business partners to provide daily operational support relating to the Corporate Action queries and requests
*Investigation of Cash reconciliation exception processes related to Corporate Action postings.
*Take responsibility and provide proactive communication while troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Corporate Actions processing
*Identify risk issues and use good judgement in communicating issues and escalating matters to your team leader or the Head of Corporate Actions when warranted
*Assist your team leader with any Business projects impacting Corporate Actions.
*Develop strong relationships with relevant 3rd parties, IT, and with the front office to ensure smooth workflows and enhance the output of the team.
*Actively ensure upward and downward communication of developments and issues
*Act as a subject matter expert on firm’s operational workflows and processes for Corporate Actions, including liaison with BRS in relation to any enhancements to Aladdin to support related enhancements.
*Assist the other teams in the group (Income and Restructures as required)
Skills:
*Superior understanding of Corporate Actions operational processing.
*Understanding of the lifecycle of Corporate Action events.
*Solid understanding of operational risks and controls
*Knowledge of Aladdin very desirable or equivalent system involving the review of multiple custodian feeds of the same Corporate Action required.
*Significant attention to detail.
*Analytical ability to evaluate the root causes of the problems and aptitude to understand complex workflows
*Able to manage heavy workload, understand urgency, multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines
*Strong teamwork ethic whilst also having the ability to function without explicit direction, challenge yourself to learn new things and continually improve
*Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience:
*3+ Years experience in Corporate Actions ideally in equities and fixed income.
*Some supervisory experience reviewing other team members work
*Recent and relevant experience in Back Office Operations / Trade Management
*Previous experience in project work desirable
Education:
*Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or related field desirable, but not essential depending on work experience
