Location: Wickford, Essex, UK
Contract Type: Full Time
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week (Mon-Thu 8:30AM to 5:15PM, Fri 8:30AM to 4:00PM)
Reports to: Engineering Director

A prominent OEM in power conversion solutions is looking for a Test Technician to join their team. Job Summary:
The Test Technician will be responsible for conducting tests, identifying faults, and validating power supply units (PSUs) and related components to ensure they meet required specifications and industry standards. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong technical background in electronics and experience in power supplies.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:
*Conduct routine and advanced testing of PSUs and components following established procedures.
*Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in power supplies and related systems.
*Work with the engineering team to resolve issues and ensure products meet customer specifications.
*Record test results, findings, and any modifications made during the testing process.
*Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure accurate results.
*Ensure all products meet safety and quality standards before shipment.
*Provide feedback and suggestions to improve testing procedures and product designs.
*Assist with production-related technical tasks as needed.
*Follow all company health and safety policies during testing and handling of electrical components.
*Keep the test area tidy and organised.
*Manage the materials return process, including logging, testing, producing reports, and occasional customer contact.
Education:
*BTEC Level 3 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent (Preferred)
*HNC/HND in Electronics or related field (Preferred)
Experience and Requirements:
*Minimum of 2 years of experience as a test technician in electronics, preferably power supplies (Preferred)
*Experience in fault finding and troubleshooting electronic systems (Required)
*Experience with testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power analysers (Required)
*Familiarity with AC/DC and DC/DC power supplies (Required)
*Full driving licence (Preferred)
*Legal entitlement to work in the UK (Required)
Skills and Aptitudes:
*Strong technical knowledge of electronics and testing procedures (Required)
*Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and technical drawings (Required)
*Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing (Required)
*Strong problem-solving and analytical skills (Required)
*Familiarity with test equipment (Desired)
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team (Required)
Compensation and Benefits:
*Salary: £23k to £30k per year, depending on experience
*Annual Leave: 20 days + 1 extra day per year worked (up to 25 days) + bank holidays
*Workplace Pension: Standard (5% employee + 3% employer)
