My client, a corporate membership organization based in Central London, is currently seeking a Membership Manager.
The Membership Manager will be responsible for managing relationships with members, which include top FTSE companies, professional services firms, Whitehall departments, charities, universities, and local authorities.
Key Responsibilities of the Membership Manager
Relationship management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of 80+ members, ensuring consistent and proactive engagement.
Develop in-depth knowledge of each member organisation’s goals, challenges, and areas of interest to tailor offerings to meet their specific needs.
Undertake research to maintain an understanding of the macroeconomic environment to support rich conversations with members and potential members.
Conduct regular meetings with members (virtual and in person), offering personalised support and fostering long-term relationships.
Member engagement & strategic account management:
Increase member satisfaction and retention by identifying opportunities for deeper member involvement in offerings.
Collaborate with the Head of Membership & Marketing to develop tailored engagement plans and strategies for each assigned member.
Work closely with the Marketing, Events, Talent and Leadership teams to continuously improve existing offers and design new initiatives that align with member needs and strategic priorities.
•Track member participation, feedback, and overall satisfaction to develop insights that support targeted retention efforts.
Business development:
Actively participate in the recruitment of new members, directly responsible for bringing in 10+ new members each year.
Drive growth by leading on selling across offer, focused around leadership interventions, strategic dialogue and case studies.
Performance monitoring & reporting:
Use CRM and analytics tools to monitor and report on member engagement metrics.
Regularly update on progress with assigned members and collaborate to adjust engagement strategies as needed.
Other:
Attend at least two events in central London per month (early morning and/or lunchtime briefings) to meet with members and to stay informed of critical issues impacting the UK.
Attend flagship events (roughly 3 per year) and external conferences to network with members, with occasional travel outside of London.
Person specification
A level or above equivalent
Prior experience in relationship management, account management, or client success roles, ideally within a membership-based or non-profit organisation.
Proven experience in business development and selling products, offers or services.
Either a background in public policy or a strong personal interest in current affairs and policy issues, allowing for informed conversations with diverse membership base.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse member organisations.
Experience of working with senior stakeholders across various sectors, with ability to build meaningful relationships.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to managing a large portfolio of member relationships.
Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret engagement data to inform strategy and identify trends.
