This role sits within our Aviation business sector business division that provides catering, cleaning, hard services, pest control, and security services to a wide range of prestigious clients.
About The Role:
Shift Pattern: Rolling rota, three on three off
The Driver position is based on the CPSRA (Critical Part of the Security Restricted Area) and is responsible for the operation of all OCS high lift vehicles and minibuses used in transporting passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility to and from the aircraft. The driver must communicate efficiently with his assigned marshaller and follow his/her hand signals on approach and reversing from the aircraft. This is essential as to know when to break, to alter angle of approach to an aircraft and to ensure when backing away from the aircraft that there are no obstructions that may not be seen by the driver.
Key Responsibilities:
*To communicate effectively with their assigned marshaller so that the Hi-Lift vehicle approaches the aircraft in a safe and controlled manner
*Apply all safety controls pertaining to staff and passenger safety when on board vehicles
*Drive minibuses and operate tail-lift for transporting PRM passengers to their stands.
*Drive internal electric buggies when necessary to transfer passengers with disabilities to their gates.
*Greet passengers in a pleasant and professional manner
*Assess the passenger’s mobility requirements
*Assist PRMs to embark and disembark company vehicles and aircraft
*Be responsible for the lifting, transferring and repositioning of PRMs in company vehicles and aircraft
*In the event of an accident, to immediately report the incident to both control department and airside operations.
*Carry out vehicle safety checks and submit the audits to the supervisor.
*Carry out third state safety audits on relevant flights.
*Use equipment to assist PRMs relevant to their individual mobility needs e.g. S-max, Wheelchair, aisle chair, sling etc
*Assist PRM’s who do not require the use of mobility equipment e.g. blind, intellectual disabilities etc.
*Work in conjunction with ground crew to aid a safe transfer of passenger wheelchairs from OCS vehicles to aircraft.
