Job Title: EAL Teaching Assistant
Location: North Manchester (M9)
Contract: Long-term, Full-time
Start Date: January 2024
Are you passionate about supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) to thrive in the classroom? Aspire People are currently seeking dedicated EAL Teaching Assistants to join a vibrant and inclusive school community in Manchester.
The Role:
As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students whose first language is not English, helping them develop their language skills, access the curriculum, and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support to EAL students to improve their English language proficiency.
* Assisting students with reading, writing, speaking, and listening tasks across various subjects.
* Collaborating with teachers to adapt lesson materials and resources to suit EAL learners.
* Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to teachers and pastoral staff.
* Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Previous experience working with EAL learners in a school setting (primary or secondary).
* A strong understanding of strategies to support language acquisition and integration.
* Excellent communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
* A passion for education and a desire to help students overcome language barriers.
* The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
