Job Description:
Help us build an estate to last for generations to come
Over the last 30 years we’ve invested £millions growing our estate in the beautiful Lake District National Park. We now run a large number of business offices and buildings, own 20 rental properties, manage over 900-acres of park and farmland, are the custodians of several historic houses, three traditional pubs, a butcher, a baker and yes, even a candlestick maker.
All this was founded off the huge success of our UK’s No. 1 books business and we’ve got the same passion and ambition for our large and varied estate.
As with our books though, we strive to do things our own way - so if you’re keen to use your initiative and break away from the safety and security of rinse and repeat estate management then look no further. We want a seriously smart, organised, degree-educated individual with exceptionally high standards and at least a few years’ work experience to join our Property Team.
What you will do
As an Estates Business Partner, you’ll report to the Board to deliver a variety of strategically important building or property projects from across our business:
- It could be anything from planning our latest warehouse extension, to negotiating with external contractors, or delivering our extensive pub and brewery refurbishment plan
- You’ll take responsibility for all project plans, proposals and specifications, seeking appropriate approval where necessary
- You’ll lead and challenge your project team, which may include employees and external contractors, taking responsibility for their workload and output
- Your projects will include developing, delivering and monitoring new processes or procedures
- You’ll report on progress at all stages to make sure we’re delivering on time and to the highest standards
What you will need
We’re looking for an intelligent and passionate, degree-educated individual with a decent amount of work experience. You’ll have:
- A great academic record - excellent A-levels, and a STEM or RICS accredited degree from a top university
- Ideally 5 years’ post-graduate experience in a professional environment, preferably working with buildings and properties
- Fantastic organisational skills and the ability to apply these to building projects
- An exceptional eye for detail, be numerate and have great IT skills (CAD experience is a bonus)
- A really positive and flexible attitude - you’ll respond well to feedback and shifting priorities
- The enthusiasm and willingness to embrace our approach to building projects and properties
What you will get
As well as joining a really supportive, thriving business based in the stunning Lake District National Park, you’ll also receive:
- £35,000 - £55,000 (depending on your experience and qualifications)
- Great career and salary progression opportunities
- Minimum 25 days’ holiday a year (plus bank holidays)
- Generous healthcare benefits and a company pension scheme
- Leisure and golf club membership - yes, we’ve got a swimming pool and sauna on site!
- Discounts in our butchers, grocers and bakers (and free sausages on your birthday!)
What are we like
At CGP we work hard to build an enjoyable working environment for all our staff.
Joining us means you’ll be:
- Working for a hugely successful, thriving company that generates over £10m profit a year
- Based at one of our attractive offices in the beautiful Lake District National Park
- Part of a team that’s committed to supporting and investing in our local community
- Enjoying all the benefits of our unique company environment - warm, friendly, collaborative and fun
- Plus, you get free beans, loads of fantastic parties and a Quirk Ambassador… just watch this video to find out!
