Company Description
Legal & General is one of Europe’s largest asset managers, providing clients and partners with complex, responsible investment solutions, across public and private markets. As a global investor, we are present where our clients most need us - from Hong Kong and Singapore, to Chicago and major European financial hubs.
Created by combining our investment management (LGIM) and asset origination (LGC) capabilities, our Asset Management division works with our Institutional Retirement and Retail divisions to benefit our clients and customers - which include individual savers, pension scheme members and global institutions - and deliver enhanced shareholder returns.
Joining us means becoming part of a market-leading team, with capabilities across the full spectrum of asset classes, with an enduring commitment to responsible investment and creating long-term, sustainable value for our clients and partners.
Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to join the Asset Management Finance Team in our Central Cardiff Office.
As a Senior Finance Analyst you will support the Financial Controller with the reporting and control activities within the Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Retail Investment Holdings (RIH) Finance function. This will include the preparation of journals and MI analysis, as well as producing elements of the analytical entity packs, regulatory returns, liquidity forecasts, quarterly board submissions, quarterly consolidation submissions and annual financial statements.
This a hybrid working opportunity, which means that you can work flexibly from both our Cardiff Office and your home, to find a work-life balance that works for you.
What you’ll be doing: *Preparing and uploading accounting journals to reflect bank transactions, interest accruals and foreign currency adjustments.
*Supporting the financial controller in understanding the monthly performance of the entities required, and also monitoring and forecasting the capital and liquidity positions of these entities.
*Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors to ensure thorough responses are received to any questions raised during the annual audit process.
*Assisting with the production of the entity analytical packs, showing the balance sheet and P&L with written and graphical analysis of performance.
*Assisting with the production of the financial reporting packs for submission to the entity board meetings on a quarterly basis.
*Assisting with the preparation of regulatory returns for the FCA, ensuring that all regulatory deadlines are adhered to.
*Assisting with the preparation of consolidation workings for a small group and report this through the OneStream system to L&G Group finance teams.
*Supporting the finance director and other stakeholders by providing complete, accurate and timely information as requested.
*Assisting the financial controller in creating efficiencies within current processes and ensuring that we have up to date documentation of processes, risks and controls.
*Preparing ad-hoc reports, information requests and other tasks that arise throughout the year.
Qualifications
Who we’re looking for: *Part-Qualified/Student Accountant who is actively studying towards ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualification (or equivalent)
*Strong numeracy skills and comfort using key financial concepts are essential to the role.
*Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience using PowerPoint and Word is required. We will also expect knowledge of SUN to be developed within role.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders across Asset Management and the wider L&G Group.
*A willingness to openly share views and findings with other team members and take on an active role in team meetings and discussions with management.
*Ability to manage a variety of different deliverables concurrently and cope with periods of high pressure (this will be especially prevalent during the busy month-end period)
*Ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines during key points in the financial reporting calendar.
*Ability to work independently to identify, investigate and resolve issues/enhance processes.
*Attention to detail and accuracy is a must, with a constant commitment to producing high-quality work.
*Ability to accurately handle large volumes of financial data, manipulate the data for use in other financial or operational processes.
Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer: *The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
*Generous pension contribution
*Life assurance
*Private medical insurance
*At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
*Competitive family leave
*Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice
*There are the many discounts we offer - both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
*In 2023, some of our workspaces were redesigned. Our offices are great spaces to connect and collaborate and have your wellbeing at the heart
