Collett & Sons have an exciting opportunity for a Driver Assessor to join the team.
Location: Halifax Depot, HX2 0DF
Job Type: Full - time, permanent
Hours: Anticipated normal working hours are Monday to Friday 08.00hrs to 17.00hrs. Overtime and weekend working is required by the demands of the business.

- Transport - Undertaking General transport, Freight Forwarding and Warehousing
- Heavy Lift - Heavy transport, Crane Hire, Lifting & Project management

- Consulting - Undertaking Route surveying, site access studies & reporting
The Company specialise in the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Heavy Engineering, Renewables and Civil & Infrastructure markets, transporting and moving difficult loads within the UK & Worldwide
We operate from our head office site in Halifax along with our port-based depots in Goole and in Grangemouth, Scotland.
Driver Assessor - The Role:
Working as part of the Compliance team, this appointment will report directly to the Compliance Director, regular driver assessments is key to the role and assisting in the delivery of all Training duties, the role will be predominately based at the Head office in Halifax although work at to our other depots, this role is integral to the future success of the department.
We have a Training regime and recording process for all of the employees, including an in house / external training center for all types of training provided by the company. The successful candidate will be required to actively participate in the development of the training facility. Building, developing, updating and delivering appropriate training courses to further the company’s needs.
Flexibility in the working week is required, as driver assessments may facilitate early starts / late finishes, the undertaking of driver CPC training is /can be undertaken on weekends (usually Saturdays).
Driver Assessor – Key Responsibilities:
- Undertaking Driver Assessments (previous experience preferred)
- Undertaking driver CPC training sessions
- Maintaining documentary evidence of internal / external training undertaken
Driver Assessor – You:
The following requirements are required:
- Previous experience of undertaking vocational assessments (ideally holding formal assessment qualification)
- Having previously undertaken driver CPC training -JAUPT approved (preferred)
- Demonstrates a high level of competence and awareness of documentation, recording and reporting
- Knowledge of IT windows-based systems i.e. word, excel, PowerPoint
- Full UK Driving Licence holder (Cat B minimum, C or C+E would be advantageous)
- Self-motivated and an effective team player
- Positive approach to management of change
- Effective communicator at all levels
Preferred, but not essential:
- Previous experience within the Logistics, Road haulage or Heavy Lifting industry (preferred but not essential)
- Previously undertaken LGV Driver Assessments
- Formal teaching qualification, PETTLS / AET
- ITTSAR / RTITB Registered trainer
- FORS Approved Safe Urban Driving trainer
- Manual Handling Trainer
