About the Role:
Myn is recruiting a Senior Practitioner for our long-term client in the South-East of England. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and dedicated social worker to take on a leadership role within an Adolescent Social Work Team. You’ll provide expert guidance and supervision to less experienced colleagues, manage complex cases, and work collaboratively to deliver life-changing outcomes for adolescents and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out statutory duties under the Children Act 1989, focusing on children in need of support and protection.
- Supervise, guide, and challenge less experienced social workers to uphold excellent standards of practice.
- Undertake assessments, develop care plans, and monitor outcomes for complex cases, ensuring interventions are effective and evidence-based.
- Rapidly respond to and support young people aged 16–17 who present as homeless, preventing and addressing homelessness through early intervention.
- Chair Child in Need meetings, multi-agency risk discussions, and joint housing assessments.
- Support Looked After Children by attending reviews, completing care and pathway plans, and ensuring effective outcomes.
- Mentor and coach team members to promote reflective practice and holistic family approaches.
- Work closely with partner agencies, including health, education, housing, and police, to reduce risks and enhance outcomes for young people.
- Keep up-to-date with legislative changes, policies, and evidence-based interventions to embed learning across the team.
- Act as a practice leader by shaping and developing service initiatives and participating in working groups and training programmes.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Social Work or equivalent (DIPSW, CQSW, CSS).
- Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Proven post-qualification experience in statutory social work settings, particularly with adolescents.
- Experience in managing adolescent risks through contextual safeguarding approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, supervise, and support newly qualified social workers or other team members.
- Strong understanding of legislation related to young homeless individuals, children in need, and Looked After Children.
Skills and Attributes:
- Ability to build effective professional relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.
- Expertise in assessing needs, making sound professional judgments, and managing risk in high-pressure situations.
- Skilled in developing and implementing evidence-based care plans with measurable outcomes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and represent the service professionally.
- In-depth knowledge of child development, trauma, attachment, and resilience theories.
- Commitment to promoting equal opportunities and valuing diversity in all aspects of work.
What We’re Looking For:
We need a compassionate, committed, and professional leader who thrives in a collaborative and high-performance environment. You should have the ability to inspire confidence, mentor effectively, and champion excellent practice standards.
Requirements:
- Ability to travel flexibly across a wide geographical area.
- Satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and embodying organisational values.
