Job Overview
The key of this role is to provide support to the Departmental Head, solicitors, and legal executives within the firm or to a specific solicitor as designated.
The team consists of a Partner and Senior Associates who often work remotely, alongside paralegals who are office-based. This role anticipates bringing experience, both legal and office, to the team and wider firm. The role will be a key link between the Leeds office and our Midlands offices.
Responsibilities
The actual work undertaken varies depending on previous and ongoing experience gained. This will be reflected in the instruction from your Line Manager. In general, however, the main responsibilities can include:
- Production of letters and legal documents
- Being a system user lead with the paralegal team
- Working from verbal instructions,, and emails
- Forming an integral part of our Litigation and Commercial Teams
- Court documents and bundle support
- File ledger management i.e. invoices, notification of funds receipts, disbursement payments
- Answering telephone calls in a professional manner
Dealing with enquiries from clients, other professional advisors, and opposing solicitors via email, fax, and letter
- General file and record management i.e. file opening, client identification, document storage, file archiving
- Making appointments and diary management via both paper and electronic systems
- Taking referrals from clients and passing them to the appropriate departmental heads within the firm
- Assisting the Head of Department, solicitors, and trainees as appropriate
- Making a positive contribution towards departmental business growth
