Job Description:
Job Title: Branching Out Job Coach
Location: Headingley, Leeds
Salary: £25,000 - £26,000 per annum
About Us: Reed Further Education are working with a pioneering and compassionate organisation dedicated to supporting students aged 16+ with special educational needs (SEN). The new Branching Out programme focuses on employability and personal development, helping students achieve their full potential.
Job Purpose: Support the Senior Job Coach to design and implement a high-standard employability programme for the Branching Out initiative.
Principal Responsibilities:
Planning:
Collaborate with the Senior Job Coach to deliver the Branching Out programme, ensuring it matches the abilities and interests of the interns.
Assist in implementing the delivery plan to ensure programme effectiveness.
Continuously develop and evaluate the Branching Out programme to meet the needs of interns and referral organisations.
Build relationships with key representatives of Leeds City Council Parks & Gardens teams at Lotherton Hall and Roundhay Park.
Intern Support:
Use techniques such as Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI) to help interns master tasks by breaking them down into smaller elements.
Create visual or written aids (e.g., step-by-step task lists) and ensure any assistive technology is provided.
Employ a tailored coaching and mentoring approach to support interns’ pastoral, social, and emotional needs, building confidence and skills.
Support intern self-assessment and reflection as part of target-setting, monitoring, and reviewing progress.
Assist interns in securing paid employment or meaningful progression by negotiating with employers, supporting CV development, job searches, and interview preparation.
Process Management:
Help set, monitor, and review personal objectives and training plans for each intern.
Ensure all relevant intern information is stored and maintained securely.
Promote and safeguard the welfare of interns, adhering to the Safeguarding Policy and processes.
Other Responsibilities:
Contribute to building a positive culture and ethos within the charity.
Uphold the values of the charity: pioneering, compassionate, person-focused, unstoppable, and authentic.
Maintain high standards in attendance, punctuality, and personal time management.
Follow all relevant policies and procedures, including Health and Safety and Safeguarding.
Participate in professional development opportunities and relevant meetings.
Qualifications:
A good standard of general education to GCSE level or equivalent.
Experience in gardening and/or low-level grounds maintenance.
Experience working with vulnerable people in a coaching/teaching capacity, preferably with SEN or ASD students.
Ability to use hand tools for outdoor maintenance and grounds work.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
