Job details
Role: SEN Tutor
Pay: £30 - 38 per hour
Location: Reading
Contract: Part-time
Working hours: 5 hours per week for each pupil
About the role
We are looking for a tutor to support 5-year-old twins in Reading. These pupils have diagnoses of autism and global developmental delay. They have not attended school previously and are pre-verbal, where they mainly use gestures and pointing to communicate. Both pupils can sometimes find it frustrating when things do not go as they expect. They love exploring, soft toys, spinning, fruit and sensory activities.
The main goal of tuition is to give them access to education so that they are able to reach their full potential with their academics. A tutor who has experience working with mild learning difficulties and pre-verbal pupils would be essential to help develop communication strategies for these pupils. Someone who is also able to assist with developing social skills would be a great bonus.
If you think this is not the right role for you, do still apply as we are always on the lookout for people with different expertise to work with our pupils in various locations.
About you:
* You’ll have some experience with SEN: ASD, ADHD, mild learning difficulties, speech and language communication needs
* You’ll have experience helping pupil progress in their academic learning
* You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
* You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
* You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
* Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
* Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
* Use a person-centred approach in their work
* Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
* Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
Benefits:
* Generous and competitive rates of pay with a pay structure to increase your pay
* Pay scaling to enable you to increase your rate
* Opportunities for professional development
* Friendly support and guidance to enable you to meet the individual needs of learners and to ensure that you feel confident in your position
* Training in working with children with SEND
* Option to arrange work around the existing schedule
* Join a friendly and supportive team
At ASEND you will always be well supported by our highly qualified and experienced team and well-remunerated for your work.
