Job Description:
SEMH Teaching Assistant - Slough Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a resilient and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a specialist provision in Slough.
The school provides education for up to 38 primary-aged pupils (4-11 years) with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and is also funded for 10 Alternative Provision (AP) places for Slough-based pupils at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools.
The Role: As an SEMH TA, you will:
? Support pupil learning by developing and using strategies tailored to individual needs.
? Prepare and develop work programs and learning resources (under the guidance of teachers).
? Ensure the safeguarding of children and young people, following best practices at all times.
? Understand and implement ’Team Teach’ principles and Trauma-Informed approaches.
? Supervise and accompany pupils on off-site activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
What We’re Looking For: ?? Resilience - the ability to stay calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
?? Experience with challenging behavior - ideal for those with a background in SEMH, PRUs, or alternative provisions.
?? SEMH experience is preferred but not essential - training will be provided.
?? A commitment to supporting students’ emotional and social development.
