Job Description:
Teaching Assistant
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team in a Secondary School in Warrington, Greater Manchester as soon as possible. This full-time role offers the opportunity to support children in Key Stage 3 (KS3) in the mornings and work 1:1 with a Key Stage 4 (KS4) in the afternoons.
Key Responsibilities:
*Provide general classroom support for KS3 and KS4 students, assisting teachers with day-to-day learning activities, group work, and helping students with their academic progress.
*Support students in a variety of subjects, ensuring they have the tools and guidance needed to succeed.
*Work 1:1 students with autism, providing tailored support to help the child engage in their learning and activities.
*Assist with communication and social interaction strategies for the child, adapting approaches to support their needs.
*Help the child feel comfortable and confident in their learning environment, ensuring they are safe and supported throughout the school day.
*Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to implement individual learning strategies and ensure the child’s well-being.
*Observe and monitor the child’s progress and assist in adapting their learning materials to suit their needs.
Ideal Candidate:
*Previous experience in working with secondary school-aged children, ideally in a teaching assistant role.
*Experience working with children with autism, particularly non-verbal children, is highly desirable.
*A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to build a positive relationship with children.
*Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to individual needs.
*A proactive, flexible approach to supporting children’s learning both in groups and individually.
*Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent), are preferred.
*A genuine passion for supporting children’s development and creating an inclusive learning environment.
