Our client, a leading law firm, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Management Accountant to join their team on a fixed-term contract basis. As a recruitment agency representing this client, we are looking for an individual with a strong background in management accounting within the legal industry to provide accurate financial information, analysis, and reporting. Key Responsibilities:
*Prepare and manage monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness, with a particular focus on law firm financials.
*Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, tailored to legal billing cycles and project-based work.
*Provide insightful financial analysis and commentary to support business decision-making, including profitability analysis for specific legal cases or departments.
*Collaborate with partners and departmental heads (e.g., Legal Team Leaders) to ensure financial controls are maintained, particularly with client billing and legal fee structures.
*Monitor financial performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to a law firm, such as utilization rates, realization rates, and lock-up periods.
*Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with industry-specific tax regulations.
*Support the preparation of year-end financial statements and audits, adhering to industry-specific accounting standards.
*Provide ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as required by senior management.
*Assist with cash flow management, particularly around client payments and billing cycles.
*Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend improvements to financial processes within a law firm environment.
Key Requirements:
*ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with proven experience in management accounting within the legal industry.
*Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, with specific experience in law firm financial structures and billing models.
*Advanced proficiency in Excel and legal financial software systems (e.g., Aderant, Elite, 3E, or similar).
*Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
*Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
*Proven experience in a management accounting role within a law firm is essential.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with legal professionals.
