We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager with a passion for the charity and not-for-profit sector. About the Role
As an Audit Manager, you will manage a diverse charity-specific client portfolio, overseeing workflow and delivering exceptional service. You will play a pivotal role in supporting charitable organisations and making a tangible impact on the communities they serve.
Key Responsibilities
Client and Audit Management
*Oversee planning, prioritisation, and delivery of audit work to ensure efficient workflows and adherence to agreed budgets.
*Manage a portfolio of charity and not-for-profit clients, ensuring compliance with Charity SORP, UK GAAP, and ISA requirements.
*Act as the primary contact for client queries, delivering proactive, value-added advice.
*Collaborate with internal teams to address client needs across other service areas, such as tax and advisory.
*Ensure all compliance requirements are met, including AML, KYC reviews, and engagement letters.
Leadership and Team Development
*Lead and mentor audit team members, setting objectives and providing constructive feedback.
*Support the professional growth of team members through coaching, training, and performance reviews.
*Play an active role in recruitment and development initiatives within the audit department.
Business Development and Practice Growth
*Build and maintain a network of intermediaries and prospects, generating referrals and new business opportunities.
*Contribute to the growth of the charity and not-for-profit portfolio by participating in pitches, presenting at events, and writing articles for the sector.
*Develop strong internal relationships across service lines to maximise cross-selling opportunities.
Operational Excellence
*Monitor and report on team performance against business targets, celebrating success and addressing underperformance proactively.
*Review and sign off audit work, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and external standards.
*Manage billing processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing for audit services.
Requirements We are looking for a qualified accountant who thrives in audit and shares our passion for supporting the charity and not-for-profit sector. The ideal candidate will be:
*Qualified: ACA or ACCA qualified with experience in statutory audit.
*Sector Specialist: Knowledge and experience of Charity SORP is essential.
*Experienced: Previous responsibility for a portfolio of clients, including preparation and review of charity accounts.
*Client-Focused: Strong client service and communication skills.
*Organised: Excellent time management, attention to detail, and accuracy.
*Collaborative: A team player with strong mentoring and leadership abilities.
