Job Description:
Our client, a prominent organisation in the manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis located at Antelope Park, Southampton.
Key Responsibilities: *Create new and maintain existing 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks
*Collaborate closely with R&D engineers to ensure rapid response and hands-on support
*Involved in assembly work including plastic moulding, PCBs, and metal work
*Production of models using a bill of materials comprising 15 to 20 elements
*Work primarily in the Southampton office, ideally 4 and 1/2 days per week
*Communicate effectively with team members and management to deliver design solutions
Job Requirements: *Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential
*BTEC Level 3 or equivalent qualification
*Experience in mechanical design within the manufacturing sector
*Understanding of assembly processes including plastic moulding and PCBs
*Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
*Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Additional Information: *Contract position, working 37.5 hours per week with a potential early finish on Fridays
*Face-to-face interview process with the R&D manager supported by HR
*Role falls inside IR35 regulations
